An update from Laurina, a former UniversalGiving member currently in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan.
Everywhere in Japan, people are doing their best to help the victims of the recent tragedy. Donating money, necessity items, cutting back on electricity, etc.
My heart goes out to all the victims of the disaster. It’s especially heartbreaking when you see their plight.
Today, my friends and I will be donating to people in Sendai. The local fisherman in Numazu (a port city in Shizuoka prefecture) have offered to make a journey up to Sendai and will help us donate the items directly. So far we bought canned food, towels, baby formula, and feminine pads to donate.
So, on my end in Japan, I found a way to donate directly to people in Sendai. For readers around the world, you can donate through UniversalGiving’s Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund. True to UniversalGiving’s promise, your funds will go directly to the cause. All donations collected through this Japan Earthquake Fund will be used to support immediate relief efforts as well as short-term and longer-term recovery projects in Japan. We are working with our partner NGO’s who are on the ground in Japan providing support to the victims.
